KBS TV's Let's Go Dream Team chooses Vancouver and Whistler!
Let's Go Dream Team is a Sunday entertainment program shown nationally by Korea's largest TV network, KBS TV. The show features top celebrities participating in fun and challenging sports games and activities.
Originally designed for the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympic Games, the show was founded in 1999 with the full support of the Korea National Olympic Committee to draw Korean viewers’ interest on lesser known Olympic sporting events. Let's Go Dream Team was the most popular weekend entertainment show for Korean families from 1999-2004. After the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens, the show went on hiatus and now it comes to life again as Let’s Go, Dream Team - Season II.
The cast includes six top male Korean celebrities competing with amateur sports teams or unique groups of locals. Season ll of the show features Vancouver and Whistler and will include British Columbia tourism products and experiences throughout the four 70-minute episodes. Excitement is high in Korea as national hero and gold medial skating champion Yu Na Kim has been invited to appear on the show.
In the BC edition of Let’s Go Dream Team, the cast will compete against a team of bartenders from Whistler Village, the University of British Columbia's ice hockey team, a group of local Koreans living in BC, and a group of Whistler Blackcomb ski instructors. Also featured will be the Capilano Suspension Bridge, the Grouse Mountain ice rink, the Whistler Peak 2 Peak Gondola and several local activities such as ziptreking, bungee jumping, snowmobiling, dogsledding and a sleigh ride fondue.
The Let's Go Dream Team's crew visited BC in early December, shooting for eight days and attracting a crowd of more than 400 local fans. Let's Go Dream Team will broadcast nationally in Korea in four 70-minute Sunday episodes that began in late December.
